Croeso i Criw Cymraeg!
2026-2027
At St Michael’s Primary School, our Criw Cymraeg is passionate about promoting the Welsh language and celebrating Welsh culture throughout our school community.
Our aims are to:
Celebrate the Welsh language by encouraging everyone to use Welsh confidently and enjoy learning new words and phrases.
Promote Cymraeg Bob Dydd by encouraging pupils and staff to use Welsh in everyday school life.
Develop oracy skills by providing opportunities for pupils to practise speaking and listening to Welsh in a fun and supportive environment.
Create a Welsh ethos by making Welsh visible and heard throughout our classrooms, corridors and outdoor areas.
Celebrate Welsh culture and heritage through activities, celebrations, music, traditions and events such as St David’s Day and the Urdd Eisteddfod.
Encourage and support others by sharing Welsh phrases, helping our peers and being positive role models for the Welsh language.
Make learning Welsh fun through games, songs, challenges and exciting opportunities to use Cymraeg every day.
Promote pride in Wales by helping everyone in our school community appreciate the importance of the Welsh language and our national identity.
Through our Criw Cymraeg, we aim to ensure that Welsh is a living part of our school, where everyone feels encouraged, included and proud to say, “Dw i’n siarad Cymraeg!” (I speak Welsh!)
