At St Michael's as a part of our RE curriculum we are following a programme called In God's Name which was written by Dr Margaret Carswell. The programme presents a Catholic world view, expressed at Vatican II, through learning about the Traditions of the Church, human experience, creation and scripture, named as the sources of revelation in Dei Verbum. The content found in In God's Name is split into 6 branches as suggested in the Religious Education Directory- to love you more dearly, also known as the RED. Branches 1 and 5 are fixed branches and focus on the universal church. Branches 2,3, and 4 mirror the Liturgical Calendar, as expressed through the Gospels of Matthew, Mark and Luke. Finally branch 6 focuses on dialogue and encounter with other faiths, which is ever so important in the world that we live in today.
